Finger-woven yarn bag, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
Finger weaving, also known as twining, is done without a loom. Many American Indian groups have traditionally used this technique to create intricately patterned storage bags from yarn and plant fibers. This bag was collected at the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Indian Reservation in northern Wisconsin the early 1940s.
