Menu, Newhall House Hotel, Milwaukee, 1860.
“Meals will be prompt, and no gong sounded.”
This table d’hote (a.k.a. prix fixe or fixed price) menu from Milwaukee’s Newhall House features an extensive wine list. One of Wisconsin’s largest and grandest hotels, it stood for fewer than 30 years. The building burned in a dramatic fire in 1883.
