Letter from National Woman’s Party to Ada James, 1919, congratulating Wisconsin for being the first state to ratify the 19th amendment, which granted women the right to vote.
Born in Richland Center, Wisconsin in 1876, Ada James was a leading suffragist and was also active in many other reform movements of the era including pacifism, the advocacy of birth control, and prohibition.
